In Pennsylvania, but I have lived in numerous parts of the USA! I grew up on Sanibel Island in Florida, and near the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina.

I love this job because it’s creative, every day is different, and it allows me to chose my own schedule. The worst part is not having a reoccurring paycheck!

Whether you’re a famous movie star posing on the red carpet, or just taking a selfie for Instagram, knowing how to pose for a photo is essential!

First, a stylist will want to discuss your clothing goals and budget. Then, he or she will meet with you and look at your wardrobe, have you try on clothes, and talk more about what works and does not.

The most common way is to start as an assistant to a stylist to learn and gain experience. You should do tests shoots to build your portfolio, and eventually you will start to get smaller paid jobs. Eventually, you earn enough to break out on your own!

What is a celebrity stylist?
– As a celebrity stylist, I am hired by a publicist, a production company, or sometimes directly by a celebrity, to select wardrobe and style looks for appearances on the red carpet, in an advertisement, or as part of a magazine editorial.

Which term(s) best describes your style? Classic, casual, masculine, sexy, eclectic, trendy.
– Eclectic!

My work is more appropriately defined by the titles “Fashion Stylist” and “Personal Shopper”. Fashion Consulting is a different field, and not an area I want to focus. Thus, I have only answered the questions that apply to me:

What is the difference between a personal stylist and a fashion stylist?

A personal stylist, or personal shopper, works with everyday people (meaning, not famous!) and helps build a wardrobe suitable to their body shape, personality and lifestyle. A fashion stylist has a broad range of jobs, ranging from styling fashion editorials for magazines, advertisements, celebrities, music videos, as well as consulting to designers.
